whispers in the corridors
Rafale-M deal to be finalised soon?
The Rafale-Marine fighter jets (Rafale-M) deal is one of the main items to be discussed during the two-day visit of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to France as the final offer has been submitted. The deal includes purchase of 22 single-seaters and 4 twin-seaters. Notably, the Defence Acquisition Council has already given its approval for the purchase. Doval is on a two-day visit to France from Monday. The Indian side is keen to wrap up the negotiations and complete the contract by the end of this fiscal year. The Rafale-M deal is important for the Indian Navy as it is looking at strengthening its maritime strike capability amid the growing Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
